Professor Pratap Sharan is the Head of the Department of Psychiatry, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. Formerly he was a Medical Officer at the World Health Organization, Geneva. He has served as the President of the Indian Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and the Indian Association for Social Psychiatry. He serves on the Editorial Boards of several national and international journals. He has conducted research on mental health research in low- and middle-income countries, classification of mental disorders, and identification of depression and anxiety in primary health care in collaboration with World Health Organization, Geneva; Global Forum for Health Research, Geneva; World Health Organization – South East Asia Regional Office, New Delhi; and Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi; and has authored many papers, monographs, books and chapters. Dr. Sharan was a member of the International Advisory Group for Training and Implementation for ICD-11 Mental, Behavioural and Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
